Past Events Summary
This is a summary of the events that Elwood has done in the past. This is not a complete list, but does catch most the things that have happened in Elwood's world.
2005
In February 2005 I presented for Lupercalia in Edmonton for the Edmonton O Society once again. I did three workshops this year, including a talk on the history of body modification, a branding demonstration, and a hands on play piercing workshop. As always, it was a fabulous (but cold!!) time. Brody started working with me in February as well, after attending the Fakir School of Body Piercing in San Francisco. Fakir Musafar came to Vancouver in May with his wife Cleo Dubois to do his "Spirit+Flesh" ritual and workshop. 35 participants had hooks through their bodies while drummers kept a tribal beat for a day under the Abbotsford sun. An incredible experience for everyone involved! Took a trip to San Diego and met Art from Church Of Steel. Art is a Modern Primative who was on the TV show "Mad Mad House", a "reality" show about 5 "alts" living together with 10 "normal" people. The "normal" people would get voted out of the house based on their willingness to open their minds to new experiences. If you ever go to San Diego, go check out Art and the crew at Church Of Steel (826 Broadway) and say hi from Elwood. Increased the staff of Elwood's Body Modification to include Matt and Carly Rae, added to Brody, we now have 4. I also did an event for a group in Winnipeg, including a branding ritual and a flesh hook ritual demonstration. The shop has been super busy, and for that I thank everyone that comes in and get work from us! Looking forward to a great year in 2006!

2004
2004 in review. The year started with a body branding demonstration in February for the Edmonton O Society and their Lupercalia event that takes place every year. Then there were demonstrations of cutting and play piercing for Libido Events in Vancouver, a hook suspension demonstration and a body branding demonstration for BIO - Vancouver Dungeon, a body branding demonstration with a hook pull demonstration, a play piercing workshop, a talk about the things everyone should know about body piercing and a hook suspension demonstration for Sagacity in Victoria, a fire play workshop in Nanaimo, and finally the year was wrapped up with a hook suspension demonstration in conjunction with a burlesque performance by Little Miss Risk and a fashion show by Nancy Black Designs at an event called Darque in December. There was also a change of work venue in 2004 with a move to Dermagraphic Osmosis in Richmond in November. I also had the opportunity to work with Fakir Musafar in June as a shamanic piercer for a "Spirit + Flesh" ritual held in California, where I was also pierced into the ritual by having 8 limes sewn into my flesh along my back, a skewer put through both cheeks and finally 2 hooks pierced into my chest so I could pull against them. Sounds really intense to write it like that, but the experience is not about the pain of the piercing, but rather where that sensation takes you. The opportunity arose while I was on Galiano Island in August to do the ritual again in a different setting and the results were still amazing. It was a year where I was finally able to meet another professional body brander that I respect named Blair in Toronto. I am looking forward to being able to get to know him better in the future. This was also the year that this humble little website was unleashed upon the unsuspecting public!! All in all, a year that will definitely stand out as a time of meeting some amazing people while doing what I love to do.

2001 - 2003
Due to the fact that this website was started in 2004, it is difficult to remember the details of everything that was done for the years past, but here are some of the highlights. In July of 2001 I was in San Francisco learning basic body piercing and basic body branding from Fakir Musafar and his staff. The branding part of the class was filmed for a TV special called "Human Canvas: Sacred Skin" and was a very un-nerving experience when it is the first time pressing hot steel to flesh and there is a camera right beside you. Upon my return to Vancouver, I started working at Spider Tattoo in New Westminster. I did a body branding art show in early 2002, where I did 21 brandings on pigskin that were cured, dried, and framed on the wall with a live branding demonstration. At least there would have been a live demonstration if the City of Vancouver hadn't stepped in and tried to stop the show. As a result, the demonstration was done on pigskin on a mannequin, with a smaller group getting to see the live human demonstration a couple days later. I was asked to do a talk about the history of body modification to a group in Vancouver called BIO - Vancouver Dungeon, and a friendship with the world of kink was born. Later demonstrations included doing a branding demo for a group called VASM (Vancouver Association of Sado - Masochism), branding demos and ritual brandings for BIO, a branding demo in Seattle at The Wet Spot, and being invited into piercing rituals at Fakir's school in San Francisco. Several TV appearances also took place during this span of years, including an appearance on Shaw Cable's Urban Rush, Discovery's Skin Deep, and MTV Canada's Select. In the fall of 2003, I went back to school to take the advanced piercing class from Fakir's school, which gave me the highest level of certification that is available in the industry. A lot of events and a lot of friends made which has led to where I am today.
